Oxrock Nightrider

The most successful ally to come from wheel house Oxigin last year was the OXROCK. They are hoping that this new black-polished design will prove just as, if not more popular – the OXROCK Nightrider.

This new wheel be available in the widest range of fitments that this German firm has ever catered for, from 7.5x17 inch to 11x20 inch. They are also available in staggered fitments if you´re looking for a better stance.

These wheels also feature a patented physical vapour deposition finish. According to Oxigin, it means that dirt, grime and road salt can be wiped straight off the surface of the wheel, without the need for a traditional wheel cleaner.

BODYWORK AND STYLING

When it comes to style, Peter Stevens bodykits were rather sharp. For a time, there was a fad for converting earlier ZSs to the Mk2 look, but you can no longer get brand new bumpers and bodykit parts have been unavailable for a considerable time, making this more of a challenge.

If you can get your hands on secondhand components it is easy to do, but don´t forget that the number plate moved from bootlid/tailgate to the bumper with the Mk2, so you´ll need to factor those into the overall cost too.

When it comes to wheels, going up to 17in is no problem, though you might find that these catch if you subsequently lower the car. 18 and 19in have been known, but this requires some rather drastic wheelarch restructuring and is a bit OTT. The correct Pitch Control Diameter (PCD) for the ZS is 4x100 and the offset in ET 38-45. Don´t go wider than a 7.5in wheel. Some aftermarket bodykits may not be that compatible with a suspension drop, so again, check the forums and see what people have already done before getting the wallet out.

If the dull orange of the instrument binnacle is something you find tedious, it´s easy enough to pull the binnacle out and change the bulbs. LEDs can be a bit fierce, but blue bubs add a rather delicious look to the dials and can be bought on eBay for a few pounds.

The multi-spoke Sparrow is a lightweight motorsport wheel that´s new  from Oxigin Wheels.

We reckon they`ll look great on your modern VeeDub (the clean polished face with black/graphite details do have a certain understated appeal).

But, if you fancy something a bit cool and quirky, Oxigin also offer a pack of weather-resistant vinyl inserts, which can be fitted to your new Sparrow alloys. Prices 30GBP, you´ll get 20 inserts in various colours.
